Privacy Notice
Last updated: 2 August 2026
This page describes what martianestate.com (the "Site") does — and, mostly, does not — do with your data. We've kept data collection minimal on purpose, which keeps this notice short.
Summary
The Site itself sets no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, and no third-party tracking cookies. It does not use fingerprinting. It does not sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). Browsing this Site does not require an account, and no purchase is ever completed on this Site. Parcels are sold as individual eBay listings, added one at a time — a parcel's "Reserve" button takes you to its eBay listing once one exists, and to our homepage otherwise. eBay, not this Site, is where any transaction actually happens.
What we collect on this Site
Nothing, if you're only browsing. The parcel catalog, plats of survey, region illustrations, and pricing are static files served to your browser; no server-side logging of personal identifiers is performed beyond standard, short-retention web server access logs (IP address, timestamp, requested page) used solely for security and abuse prevention, and not linked to any profile. We never see your name, shipping address, or payment details, because we never collect them — eBay does, as part of your eBay account and purchase there.
Local storage, not cookies
The Site uses one piece of local browser storage: a flag remembering that you've dismissed the "no tracking cookies" notice bar, so it doesn't reappear on every page. This is stored only in your browser (localStorage), is never transmitted to us or anyone else, contains no personal information, and is strictly necessary for that one interface behavior. No consent banner is required for this under GDPR or the ePrivacy Directive because it is not used for tracking, profiling, or analytics.
Checkout happens on eBay, not here
For any parcel currently listed, clicking "View on eBay" redirects your browser to that listing on eBay, operated by eBay Inc. That page — not this Site — is where you sign in (or create an eBay account), enter your shipping and payment details, and complete the purchase. eBay is a separate business and, for that information, a separate data controller: it is governed by eBay's own User Privacy Notice, available at ebay.com/help/policies/.../user-privacy-notice-privacy-policy (eBay Inc.'s general privacy center is at ebayinc.com/company/privacy-center), which we encourage you to read before buying. We do not receive a copy of what you enter on eBay beyond order details we need to fulfill and ship your certificate.
Two small technical notes on the handoff itself: the "View on eBay" link points to that parcel's specific listing, so no parcel-identifying information needs to be added to the URL by us, and, like any outbound link, your browser may send eBay the address of the page you clicked from as an HTTP referrer. That referrer doesn't identify you personally, and it isn't used by this Site for tracking.
Because eBay Inc. is a United States company, if you are located in the EU, UK, or elsewhere outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US once you reach eBay's checkout. eBay maintains its own data transfer safeguards (including Standard Contractual Clauses) for these transfers; details are in eBay's privacy notice linked above.
If you contact us directly
If you email hello@martianestate.com, we retain that correspondence only as long as needed to respond and to keep a reasonable business record, and we don't use it for marketing without separate, affirmative consent.
Your rights (GDPR & CCPA/CPRA)
Because we don't build profiles or sell/share personal information, most access, deletion, correction, portability, and opt-out requests will simply confirm we hold nothing about you tied to your browsing. If you've emailed us directly, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete that correspondence at any time by writing to hello@martianestate.com. For any request about the order information you gave eBay directly — name, shipping address, payment details — please contact eBay using the process in their privacy notice, since that information was never in our hands. EU/UK residents may also lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority; California residents may contact the California Privacy Protection Agency. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights.
Children's privacy
This Site is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
