About Martian Estate

A small gift-goods studio, not a land registry.

Martian Estate makes keepsake gifts for the specific, recurring problem of buying something for someone who genuinely doesn't need anything else. Our first release is fifty individually surveyed parcels on Mars, ranging from 1 to 25 acres, each with its own plat of survey drawn in the style of a real geodetic land survey — corner monuments, bearings, distances, and an areographic coordinate reference.

We take the presentation seriously and the premise lightly. Every parcel is real in the sense that it corresponds to a specific, numbered plat and a specific point on a map of Mars. It is not real in the sense that matters legally: nobody, including us, can sell title to land on another planet. We say this clearly and often, including on every parcel page and in our terms, because we'd rather the joke be shared than mistaken for a swindle.

Why $19.99, and why the same price every time

Each parcel's page shows a listed "estate valuation" that varies with acreage and location, in the spirit of a real listing. The item that actually ships, though, is the same for every parcel: a certificate and a survey print, for a flat $19.99 with postage included. We'd rather be upfront that the valuation is part of the fun, not the invoice. A Collector's Edition is designed and on its way once we've sourced the materials for it.
